CATHOLIC VENUES

Rome has a wide range of the most stunning ancient churches from which to choose, including the Vatican itself.

According to Italian law Catholic wedding ceremonies are legally binding, so if you are choosing a Catholic ceremony you will not need to worry about any civil registry. And as you can well imagine there is a stunning range of beautiful old and renaissance churches in Rome.

St. John in Laterano

One of our favorite settings for a wedding ceremony is the Papal Basilica of St. John in Laterano church (see photo). The archbasilica is one of the most important and historic churches in the Catholic Church.

St. Isidores - The Irish Collge

St. Isidores was founded in the mid-seventeenth century by Irish Franciscan Friars. The church features architecture by the great Italian sculptor Bernini, and as it is small can hold only one ceremony per day. However, the priests from the college have in the past performed ceremonies in St. John Laterano for couples.

St. Silvestro in Capite

This emblematic 11th Century basilica was assigned by Pope Leo XIII in the 19th Century for English-speaking visitors. In the adjacent chapel, it holds what is purported to be the head of St. John the Baptist.

St. Patrick's

St. Patrick's Church was founded by the Irish Fr. John Rice, brother of Edmund Rice, who was the founder of the Christian brothers. It is also home to the American Catholic community in Rome. The church, located on the Via Comp was built in the 14th Century in the Gothic style. The church is located on the Via Boncompagni.

Papal Blessings

General Audiences with Pope Francis

Every Wednesday (except during July and August) the Pope himself will confer blessings on couples in a special ceremony in the Vatican. This is a truly memorable and special opportunity for any couple, and is what can make a wedding in Rome unlike any other. Contact us for further details.
